covid -19 duty

A little drizzle is falling on the roof of our hut, As silent as a cat, prowling for a cat. It is dead of night and the silence is surreal, An owl perched atop the lamppost is eerie. Occasionally making flight to catch those helpless moth, Gathering around the light from the lamppost. The drizzle has put out the fire that I have lighted, The last ember from the burnt bamboo is dead too. Any attempt to rekindle the fire would be futile Making it more opportunistic for the snakes, rodents or elephants in case if they desire to make a rampage. Anyway that's just my imagination running wild, This might happen or might not . There is a bigger fear that we stay awake for, Unprecedented help that the nation calls for. To fortify against the entry of covid- 19 that is lurking around, it must be contained like a fire when it is small. A beam of torch lights flickers from the other outpost, I do the same to notify them that we are wake. So far so good and no sign of any unauthorized trespass...

Life is a blank page, While, all I got is an empty pen. Off course I can scribble something, But it will still be blank anyway .

Bliss

Image
Dusty clouds like an ignorance, Envelops our mind thin or thick. Only wind to clear away, are the prayers invoking the almighty. So as the prayers on the radio, enlivens our heart and mind. Wiping dirts of defilements, Cleanse as a ladle of water. Just as the rays kissing the curtains, Warmth of happiness abounds in the heart. Like a flute played by an orphan cowboy, melodious does a bird on the tree chirps. While the mind is happy and empty, every sight is splendid so is every sound soothing.

Spring Harbinger

Image
Rain is falling outside, Noise I could hear from inside. I forgot my umbrella at the office, Grounded and my running late. Leaves are rustling , a shower after this long winter. Grasses and the roads are wet, They have been dry and dusty for long. Freshness has begun and lushness is back. The parrots are making its flight, wet and away from the corn fields. Little droplets sliding down the petals, of the roses heralding the onset of a spring.

Longing

Image
You will forget the summer rain, Until the summer heat tans your skin again. You will forget the road, Until you miss your hamlet again . You will forget the lyrics, Until you hear the music again. You will forget the moon lit night , Until you walk in darkness again . You will forget the taste of food, Until the hunger starves you again. You will forget the taste of water , Until the thirst strikes you again. You will forget the taste of tears, Until your heart breaks down again . You will forget the endearing words of your love, Until you have to face the wrath again . You will forget that you will age while you are young , Until you become old and cannot go back again. Hence , there is nothing you cannot forget, Until that nothing turns into something again. # minds cannot be quarantined #Corono virus

Translation of folksongs

On the hem of the sky and clouds, An endearing pearl of sun. Without the evil clutch of eclipses, Abounds with joy and Happiness. On the hem of a peak and snow linings, The magnificent Mystical snow lion . Without the harshness of blizzards, Abounds with joy and happiness. On the hem of pasture and brook, The amazingly beautiful deer. Without the enmity of the hounds, Abounds with joy and Happiness

Cinderella

The road is fresh and wet with rain, While the car barrels like a bullet train. Out of blue the sky pours down again, On the road trying to hide but in vain. The fields alongside are lush with paddy, Beautiful are those transplanting ladies. Thunders rumble, the sky darkens , I open my parasol , yet i feel shaken. Ahead of me a lady is walking quick, Bare under the rain she look wet and slick. Hairs long and the jeans tight, sandals red, Ratatat of those sandals , slip into my head. I wish she turn her back , so I see her face, Atleast I hasten my steps ,so catch her apace. From under my blue colored umbrella, She looks troubled like a poor drenched Cinderella. A Car comes pass me and pull over near her, I watch as she hop- in to vanish like thin air. Over the bent on the road afar, He gets away with a Cinderella in his car.

The petals

Image
The leg is devoid of eye, The flower is devoid of speech. Beautiful on the tree once, Fallen and in despair now. Over her fading petals, Trods a gleeful boot. Onto the  road flat, Lifeless her soul is crushed. Beneath the monsoon shower, Red as blood the road is stained.

The spring

Image
The campus look clean, wet from last nights shower. The road looks fresh, amidst the stretch of trees. In a dazzling hue, The trees are blossomed. The veggies beside the road, Are ripe and near to harvest. The litchis in the orchard, red as beetroot in backyard. Here is the harvest time,  they are so ripe and prime. Pluck few and peel few, Sun is hot and my caps askew.  Onto the ladder we climb, Its spring and harvest time.  Mangoes are getting yellower, Compared to litchi its slower. The big fat chinwan, the red skined irwin. In few days or sooner, They will ready for my dinner .

Lyrics

Touch me not.

Image
Hiding amongst the grasses, concealed in camouflage. its leaves green and minute, its stem hidden beneath the weeds. Amongst the grasses lush, She do not want to get touched. Even a slight brush of touch, She close her leaves to hide. She is soft and she is shy, she is elegant and she is adorable. When she says touch me not,  she means what she said. Amongst the lushes, she wants us to leave her alone. Beauty in her eyes, Strength in her body. Hidden beneath her beauty, A lethal thorns for defense. When she says touch me not,  she means what she says.

The thunder

Image
First a hazy blanket of clouds, Swirl and twirl as it spreads. Sparks slice the sky, Those flashes so nigh. Sound of the thunder, Resonates high amongst the beans yonder. Leaves of the slender nuts, Twerk in a frightful delight. THe rain drops heavy, Big as size of marbles. Pouring on the roof, Like a stampede of hooves. From amidst the lushes, Workers outbound and rushes. Against the wall of gate, Beneath cover of any. Try and squeeze to hide , While the storm still glide.

Poem

Rain in the summer, Wet the corns afresh. Amidst the lushes corn, Stretches a trodden path. In the centre of the farm, With beans and veggies around. My house like a castle, Amidst the clouds of lushes. Sparks and thunder afar, Out of blue the rain drops heavy. Onto the roof of my house, Like a tramp of hooves, Thousand horse are galloped. Fans are  circling on the ceiling, Lizards crawling on  the walls. Inside the blanket here, I am awaken thinking deep.

Night

It's a dead of night, You are awake all alone. Staring at the empty ceiling , asif stars shine from there. Minds are restless , In their own fantasy. Bites from the starved fleas, Spare not even your asses.

A day.

Image
pic: Google. Wake-up call plays with a country song, Pressed the snooz and got back to sleep. Few minutes of silence until  Donwillaims, Strum the strings, singing whiskey lullaby.  The golden rays of the sun hits the curtain, I brushed it apart to let the warmth come in. The winter has put up in my room late-night. It's cold , i strectched and sliced the chilled air. Through the glass of my room window , Saw the glimpse of the first snow on the peaks. Amongst the fringes of the dancing willow, Flocks of sparrows perched and sings. Onto the screen in the phone over the pillow. My crush greets the day with hugs of smiles.

Only because you get closer.

Image
ICARIUS fell in love with the sun, But she burnt his wings and waxes. Only because he flew closer to her. Moths got enticed with the flame, But she burn his wings and his love . Only because he got closer to her. Fish got allured by the bait , but hook tear his flesh and his love, Only because he got closer to it. Elephant is enthralled by the cool mud, But the mud traps and kills him slow. Only because he got closer  to it.
Under the starlit night, Wonders a lonesome soul. Across the stretch of stars, He longs for the absentee moon. Along the deserted boulevard, Amidst the silence of woods. A tired owl lull her kids to sleep, Her feeble songs resounds in the air.

The fall

Image
From inside the wooden shelf, she took out her diary old. with a sharp stainless blade, she slit her wrist and veins. Onto the pages of her diary, blood dropped and soaked. From a tiny bottle afront her, she took a sup of drink. Deep inside her betrayed veins, The fall cyanide dropped. Pic.courtesy.Google
"At the sun up, she forgot the firefly that helped her through the last night's darkness.
